Translated into English as "Land of the Elms". Also called Gar Lossion,
to the Gnomes, which translates as "Place of Flowers. Alaminórë is a region
of the island of Tol Eressëa. The Cottage of Lost Play seems to be
within this region.
The home of Lindo and Vairë, the Cottage of Lost Play was also
known as Mar Vanwa Tyaliéva. It was a small cottage on the outside,
but once one had entered, it "seemed a house of great
spaciousness and very great delight"(HOMEI.14).
It was located on the island of Tol Eressëa, in the city of Koromas,
or Kortirion as it was sometimes called, in the region of Alaminórë.
The Cottage of Lost Play contained the Hall of Play Regained, the Gong
of the Children and the Room of the Log Fire.
The other inhabitants of the cottage included Littleheart and children
of all ages. As told to Eriol, the Cottage of Lost Play was a home
for those children who had found Valinor before the safe path was
lost.
The city or Kôr was the goal of the journeys of Eärendel. At one point in history, some time past, this city was the home of all the Eldar, who were ruled by Inwë.
This is the English name for Tol Eressëa. From the descriptions, Tol Eressëa is a fairly large island, with varied terrain. Apparently it would take several days of travel on foot to cross from one side to the other.
